InnovateMD™Our industry-leading medical device innovation and design practice
Increasingly, success in medical device design depends on expertise in consumer product innovation.
Analysts project that global revenue from consumer medical devices will exceed $10 billion by 2017. This presents a new growth area to innovate medical devices and products, as well as the commodity products associated with them, creating several ongoing revenue streams. Nottingham Spirk has an outstanding track record bringing innovative medical devices and consumer products to market.
In our product and medical device design practice, which we call InnovateMD™, we’ve been involved in the development of many breakthrough medical devices. We’ve taken some of the fear factor out of MRIs by developing one of the first ergonomic MRI scanners with patient comfort in mind. Our ViewRay design, an MRI-guided radiotherapy system, replaces the hit and miss of traditional therapies with precision targeting of tumors. In another example, Nottingham Spirk helped client CardioInsight streamline a “Frankenstein” prototype for a biophysical electrocardiogram monitoring vest embedded with 252 EKG-type electrode sensors. In addition to winning a Gold Edison award, the vest prompted the acquisition of CardioInsight by Medtronic, who purchased the company for $93 million.
