...when a company goes outside of their own walls for breakthrough design and engineering.

It occurred when Unilever saw a market opportunity, but couldn’t solve it internally. They knew that if they could produce a discrete hand held aerosol for their successful men’s fragrance Axe, that they could break into new retail markets. They also knew that creating the world’s smallest aerosol would take time and resources away from other important initiatives. Nottingham Spirk was hired and within a year- the world’s smallest aerosol was created.
